CNC spindle repair for India
We are a small independent spindle workshop in Sankt Augustin, near Bonn. Everything is repaired on that one bench: there is no branch in India, no partner and no local staff. Spindles reach us crated as air cargo from Mumbai, Delhi or Chennai, and go back the same way.
The market
What Indian shops usually send us
India's machining base is broad. Automotive and two-wheeler tier suppliers sit around Pune, Chennai and Gurugram, general engineering in Coimbatore and Rajkot, and a growing aerospace cluster near Bengaluru and Hyderabad. The installed base leans heavily Japanese and German, alongside Taiwanese and Indian-built centres. Belt-driven and motorised milling spindles dominate the enquiries, usually after bearing failure, coolant ingress or a crash. Grinding spindles come in from tool rooms. The units where shipping to Germany makes most sense are the discontinued ones on twenty-year-old imported machines that nobody supports any more.

The route from India and the paperwork
Most spindles travel as air cargo from Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai or Bengaluru to Frankfurt. Sea freight is cheaper but adds weeks and more handling to a delicate assembly, so we rarely suggest it. Transit is the forwarder's business, not ours, and comes on top of any workshop estimate. Customs formalities apply in both directions; your forwarder handles them, and a temporary export with re-import on return is usually the right procedure. On-site work in India is possible only by prior technical arrangement.

India spindle repair — frequently asked
Not always. For a common belt-driven spindle with bearings and parts available in India, freight both ways rarely pays for itself. For a rare, high-value or discontinued unit, often on an imported machine nobody supports any more, it usually does. Tell us the make, the model and the symptom, and we will give you a straight answer.
We do not advertise anything as free. The sequence is fixed: the spindle is stripped and measured on arrival, and a written quotation is issued before any repair work begins. You decide from there, and nothing proceeds until you do. Nameplate photographs, the machine model and a clear description of the fault help us before the spindle is even crated.
Typically 5 to 10 working days from arrival, depending on parts availability and what the teardown reveals. It is an estimate, not a committed date; a binding date is only valid if we confirm it in writing. Air transit from India and back is additional to that, and its timing belongs to your forwarder rather than to us.
