CNC spindle repair for Malaysia

We repair spindles in one place: a workshop in Sankt Augustin, near Bonn in Germany. There is no office in Malaysia and nobody working for us there. A spindle from Bayan Lepas or Johor Bahru is crated by your forwarder, flown to Frankfurt, and stripped down on our bench.

The market

Semiconductors, moulds and electronics work

Malaysian machining is concentrated in two corridors. Penang and Kulim in the north handle semiconductor back-end equipment, test hardware and precision components; Johor in the south is mould and die country, feeding electronics and consumer goods. The spindles we see are mostly high-speed motorised units from graphite and hardened-steel mould milling, plus grinding and drilling spindles from electronics work. Duty cycles are hard and running hours accumulate quickly, so bearing wear, imbalance and coolant contamination are the usual reasons a unit finally comes off the machine.

Getting the spindle here

Getting a spindle from Malaysia to the bench

Air cargo from Penang or Kuala Lumpur to Frankfurt is straightforward and is what most customers use. Transit time belongs to the forwarder and is on top of any workshop estimate we give. Customs formalities apply leaving Malaysia and again on the way back; your forwarder handles them, and a temporary export with re-import is normally the right route. On-site work is possible only by prior technical arrangement, with the instruments and parts carried in.

Questions

Malaysia spindle repair — frequently asked

Not for everything. A common spindle that can be exchanged or rebuilt in the region rarely justifies freight to Germany and back. A rare, high-value or discontinued unit often does, especially a high-speed mould-milling spindle where the practical alternative is a new machine. Send us the nameplate and the symptom and we will tell you which of the two you have.

A rigid crate, the shaft supported so it cannot move axially, and the taper and any connectors protected. Coolant lines drained. Include the nameplate details and, if you have them, the drive parameters and the alarm history. Your forwarder will advise on the crate itself; we will tell you what needs to travel with the spindle.

Typically 5 to 10 working days from arrival, depending on parts availability and what the teardown reveals. That is an estimate, not a committed date; a binding date is only valid if we confirm it in writing. Air freight in each direction is additional to that and is timed by your forwarder rather than by us.

Machine brands we see from Malaysia

We are independent and not tied to any builder. These are the makes whose spindles come across the bench most often.

Send us the spindle details

Tell us the machine model, the spindle type and what the machine is doing wrong. We come back with an initial assessment and a written quote before any work begins.
