CNC spindle repair for the United Arab Emirates
We are an independent spindle workshop in Sankt Augustin, near Bonn in Germany. Paul Kloss owns it and every repair is carried out there. We have nothing in the Emirates: no office, no store, no staff. A spindle from Dubai or Abu Dhabi flies to Frankfurt as air cargo and comes to us by road.
The market
Machining in Dubai and Abu Dhabi
Machining in the Emirates is mostly service work for oil and gas, aviation MRO around Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and general fabrication in the free zones and in Musaffah and Sharjah. Much of it is heavy turning, milling of flanges, valve bodies and drilling components, plus aerospace subcontract work to tighter tolerances. Spindles arriving from there are usually motor spindles from machining centres and boring spindles from larger machines, often with heat and dust damage: bearings run dry, seals hardened, coolant ingress.

Getting the spindle here
Air cargo out of the Emirates
The UAE sits outside the EU, so customs formalities apply on the way out and on the way back. Your forwarder deals with them, and a temporary export with re-import after repair is normally the right procedure. Daily air cargo from Dubai and Abu Dhabi to Frankfurt makes the freight leg short and predictable, and its timing is the forwarder's responsibility rather than ours. On-site work in the Emirates is possible only by prior technical arrangement, so the right parts and instruments travel with the technician.

Questions
United Arab Emirates spindle repair — frequently asked
Sometimes. For a common spindle with an exchange unit available in the region, air freight to Germany and back rarely pays for itself. For a rare, high-value or discontinued unit, or one where the machine builder no longer offers a rebuild, it often does. Send the nameplate details and we will tell you which we think it is.
Upright in a closed wooden crate, on a pallet, with the taper protected and the shaft locked against movement. Drain the coolant. Include the nameplate photo and any drive or sensor data you have. Ask us before you crate it if you are unsure; a spindle damaged in transit costs more than the packing would have.
It is stripped, cleaned and measured, and you receive a written quotation with the findings, the parts required and the price before any repair work begins. Nothing is free and nothing starts without your written approval. Repair itself typically takes 5 to 10 working days from arrival, subject to parts availability and what the teardown shows. That is an estimate, not a committed date.
Send us the spindle details
Tell us the machine model, the spindle type and what the machine is doing wrong. We come back with an initial assessment and a written quote before any work begins.
