West Coast
CNC spindle repair for California
Our bench is in Sankt Augustin, near Bonn in Germany, and every repair happens there. We have no presence of any kind in California. From the West Coast the freight leg is the longest of any American state, so the first question is not what is wrong with the spindle. It is whether it should fly at all.
The market
Space hardware, implants and wafer-fab parts
California machining runs at the fine end. Space and launch hardware around Los Angeles, Long Beach and the South Bay, defence and aerospace subcontract alongside it, medical device work through Orange County and San Diego, and semiconductor equipment parts up in Fremont and San Jose. It is also where Haas machines are built, so the commonest cartridges have support close to home. The units that travel to us are the outliers: imported grinding and high-speed spindles, ultra-precision heads, and discontinued motor spindles on European machines that nobody nearby is willing to open.

Getting the spindle here
The longest leg from any American state
Air cargo from Los Angeles or San Francisco to Frankfurt is straightforward enough, but it is a long round trip, it is not cheap, and the timing belongs to your forwarder rather than to us. It sits on top of any workshop estimate. Customs formalities apply in both directions, and a temporary export with re-import after repair is usually the right procedure. Work tied to defence or space programmes can carry export-control obligations at your end; establishing those is for you and your forwarder to do before anything is crated.

Questions
California spindle repair — frequently asked
Sometimes, but not often. For a common spindle with parts and rebuilders within a day's drive, shipping to Germany and back rarely pays for itself. For a rare, high-value or discontinued unit, an imported grinding spindle or an obsolete high-frequency head, it frequently does. Describe the machine and the symptoms and we will tell you which of the two you have.
No. There is one workshop, in Sankt Augustin near Bonn, and no branch, depot or permanent staff anywhere else at all. On-site work in California is possible only by prior technical arrangement, planned far in advance so that the right instruments and the likely parts travel with the technician. Rebuilds themselves are done on the bench in Germany.
Typically 5 to 10 working days from arrival, depending on parts availability and what the teardown reveals. That is an estimate, not a committed date; a binding date is only valid if we confirm it in writing. Transit each way sits on top of that and is the forwarder's business rather than ours. From California, allow real time for it.
Send us the spindle details
Tell us the machine model, the spindle type and what the machine is doing wrong. We come back with an initial assessment and a written quote before any work begins.
